Beachwood, OH - Wendy Pavlus and the St. Lawrence Womens Cross Country team made school history on Saturday. A junior, Pavlus led the women's DIII National Championship race from wire-to-wire to become the Saints' first ever female national champion.  The women's team finished 2nd in the meet to Wisconsin-Eau Claire by 9 points; 16 points in front of pre-race favorite Calvin College.  The National Runner-Up status is the highest team finish since the women's program was established in the 1980s.

On the Men's side, the Saints finished 11th, with Junior Dan Ramsey finishing 4th overall.  St. Lawrence was the 4th team from the Atlantic Division.  In addition, Saints women, Johannah Ludington '10 and Jenna Hulton '12 finished 12th and 15th, respectively, to also earn All-American honors.

I will post pictures and a few more words later in the week, but I have not yet found the words capable of fully expressing the immense pride that I felt on Saturday, watching our teams achieve these amazing accomplishments.   In the mean time, you can read more about Wendy's race and Runner of the Year honors here, here, here and, of course, at St. Lawrence Athletics.

To make a donation to St. Lawrence Cross Country in honor of these teams accomplishments, follow this link. (Be sure to designate your gift to one of the Cross Country teams!)
