Your Help Needed to Honor Lady Saints' Amazing Seaon

E-mail Print PDF

As you know from the post below, the women's collegiate team (future Saints Alumni All-Starz) has had the most amazing season in the history of the program.  Coach Howard and the Athletic Department are currently working with the St. Lawrence University Development Office in order to raise funds, THROUGH OUR DONATION, to commemorate these achievements.

The goal is to be able to purchase a national championship ring for Wendy Pavlus and NCAA bracelets for the remaining members of the women's NCAA team which is a long-standing tradition of the St. Lawrence Athletic Department.  Obviously jewelry isn't cheap, and the cost must come entirely from outside the regular Department budget, so it is up to our amazing alumni network to help raise these funds.  ANY amount that we can consider giving (or encouraging others to give) to this effort will help reach the goal. Donations to this cause can be made by:

1. Sending checks directly to St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY 13617 and writing "For Women's Cross-Country" in the memo line; or

2. Making a gift on-line through the St. Lawrence website, HERE. (fastest method, you can DO IT NOW!)

Please note, that if you bookmark that link on the browser of your mobile device, you can simply pass said devise to any SLU Alum you encounter while holiday shopping, attending a party or what-have-you in the event that they are moved by your compelling argument as to why they too should give to this cause.

Happy Holidays! I hope you're in the giving spirit.

- Sammy

Saints Shine At Nationals! Pavlus National Champion!

E-mail Print PDF

Beachwood, OH - Wendy Pavlus and the St. Lawrence Womens Cross Country team made school history on Saturday. A junior, Pavlus led the women's DIII National Championship race from wire-to-wire to become the Saints' first ever female national champion.  The women's team finished 2nd in the meet to Wisconsin-Eau Claire by 9 points; 16 points in front of pre-race favorite Calvin College.  The National Runner-Up status is the highest team finish since the women's program was established in the 1980s.

On the Men's side, the Saints finished 11th, with Junior Dan Ramsey finishing 4th overall.  St. Lawrence was the 4th team from the Atlantic Division.  In addition, Saints women, Johannah Ludington '10 and Jenna Hulton '12 finished 12th and 15th, respectively, to also earn All-American honors.

I will post pictures and a few more words later in the week, but I have not yet found the words capable of fully expressing the immense pride that I felt on Saturday, watching our teams achieve these amazing accomplishments.   In the mean time, you can read more about Wendy's race and Runner of the Year honors here, here, here and, of course, at St. Lawrence Athletics.

To make a donation to St. Lawrence Cross Country in honor of these teams accomplishments, follow this link. (Be sure to designate your gift to one of the Cross Country teams!)
